I intend to understand the evolution of Indian cinema posters from the 1800s to the 19050s and how they continued to develop post-independence. Through this lens, I intend to explore the South Indian film industry.

To bring my creative visions to life, I plan on integrating traditional and digital print media which also translates to a rich and diverse culture. I intend to use traditional and digital print media as I create my visual forms inspired by my study of posters.

For my outcome, I decided to take contemporary Malayalam films and screen print them in the air of the 1940s. I used the visual language, oxidation method, and overall aesthetic of the bygone era to recreate present-day movie posters showing the loss and appreciation of this heritage in the present. I have chosen films that belong to the genre of Drama and Romance. The movies I’ve chosen are, “Bangalore Days” (2014), “Premam” (2015), and “Hridayam” (2022).
